Mary Akpa is a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and musician, blending soulful, highlife-driven guitars with African and jazz influences. Her career spans over two decades and four continents, including time spent collaborating with numerous artists, and touring around the globe. Nnoo, Mary’s most recent album release, is an speaks to an intimate and incredibly insightful five year journey made up of her experiences between her hometown of Enugu, Lagos, and current base in Brooklyn. This album represents Nnoo represents a full circle journey of coming home and truly seeing oneself as well as Mary’s strengthened sense of self love.
Task: Develop an album strategy to define positioning and messaging, digital strategy across social, site, and email, and promote album experiences such as in person activations.
Role: Lead strategist and creative responsible for creative direction, content creation and curation, research, presentation development, project management, and strategic guidelines.

Outcome: Established a strategy that identified core album themes, tone, messaging, and visual style to ensure a streamlined and immersive exploration of the album. These foundational elements informed promotional assets including an EPK, album media, new site, social media posts, paid social ads, and newsletter marketing.
